Set a skillet over medium heat and add the butter to melt. In a separate pot, cook a package of fettuccine pasta to package instructions, and set aside.
4 Tablespoons Butter, 16 oz. Fettuccine pasta
When the butter is fully melted, add in minced garlic, and cook for 2-3 minutes while stirring, or until fragrant.
1 Tablespoon Garlic
Slowly add in the heavy cream, stirring constantly so the cream doesn't curdle. Add it slowly and over time, not in one single pour.
2 cups Heavy cream
Sprinkle in the Parmesan slowly, while stirring constantly to avoid clumps.
½ cup Parmesan cheese
Add in the slices of American cheese and stir until fully incorporated.
2 slices White American cheese
Sprinkle with pepper and stir to combine.
Pepper
Add in the pasta and sliced steak, mixing and leaving over the heat until everything is heated through.
1½ cups Steak
Top with extra Parmesan, Alfredo sauce and parsley as desired. Serve, and enjoy!
- The most important part about making Alfredo is avoiding curdling the cream! Make sure to add it very slowly and stir constantly, or else the cream can easily curdle and make the sauce chunky.
- That said, if the cream curdles, it'll still taste good! Whisk it very well to break up the curds and you will still be able to safely eat it- the texture will just be less smooth.
- Cutting the steak into thin slices before adding it will ensure that it heats through quickly without overcooking and getting tough.
- Fettuccine noodles are classic for this steak and pasta recipe, but any cooked pasta noodle will be delicious! I'm also a big fan of radiatore pasta with Alfredo sauce!
