Set your Instant Pot to saute mode. Once hot, add 1 Tbsp. olive oil. When it heats and begins to shimmer, add 1 cup chopped green pepper and 1 cup chopped onion, as well as 1 Tbsp. minced garlic or garlic paste. Saute for 2-3 minutes or so.
Add 1 lb. ground beef and stir, cooking until it browns.
Once browned, add in 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce and then 1 Tbsp. flour. Stir to incorporate. Finally, season with 1 tsp. Italian seasoning and salt and pepper to taste.
Set your Instant Pot to high pressure for 5 minutes. Once done, carefully quick release the pressure. We always do this holding a hand towel.
Once done releasing pressure, open the lid and add in 6 slices of American cheese. Stir to incorporate until the ground beef mixture reaches a creamy consistency.
Remove to an oven-safe dish and place under the oven broiler for just a couple of minutes to melt extra cheese over the top. Serve, and enjoy!
Stovetop instructions:
- Place an oven-safe pan, such as a cast iron skillet, on the stove over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Once hot and shimmering, add chopped green pepper, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Saute 2-3 minutes.
- Add ground beef and stir, breaking apart the beef. Cook until the beef browns all over.
- Once browned, add in Worcestershire sauce and flour. Stir to incorporate, then season with Italian seasoning and salt and pepper, to taste.
- Cook for another 7-10 minutes, until well-mixed and cooked through.
- Stir in American cheese. Mix until fully incorporated and the dip reaches a creamy consistency.
- Add extra cheese over the top, then remove from the stove and place under the oven broiler for 2 minutes to melt (optional). Serve and enjoy!
