Italian Sausage in Air Fryer
When I think of quick and easy meals, sausage is one of the first things to come to my mind. I grew up eating all types of meals using sausage, and whenever I needed to whip up something fast but still filling and delicious for my kids on a busy weeknight, you can bet sausage of some kind was on the menu.
One of their favorites (and mine, too!) is Italian pork sausage, cooked until crisp on the outside but juicy on the inside, and served with sauteed peppers and onions. It's a simple but tasty and filling meal you can serve for lunch, dinner, or even breakfast.
Not only is Italian sausage in the air fryer always crisp and juicy, it's also super convenient and done quickly. Add it to the air fryer, set it to cook, and it's ready in just 9 minutes total. Dinner doesn't get much easier than that!
With so many different ways to serve air fried Italian sausage, you might find it hard to choose. My family's favorite pairings are serving them with sauteed peppers and onions, sliced with pasta or Portuguese rice, or simply on a bun with ketchup and mustard. The possibilities are endless, and the results are always delicious!

How to Cook Italian Sausage in Air Fryer
- Preheat air fryer to 390℉. Once heated, place your Italian sausage in the basket or tray. Pierce each sausage with a fork to prevent them from bursting.
- Air fry for 8 minutes, flipping halfway through. After 8 minutes, remove sausage from the air fryer.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Storing Leftover Italian Sausage
It's so easy to store and enjoy your leftover Italian sausage! Wrap them up in foil, and place in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
Or, freeze for 1-2 months. Thaw any frozen sausage links in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
Enjoy your leftover sausage cold or reheat them in the air fryer, microwave, or in a pan on the stove-top. Personally, I love reheating them in the air fryer for just a few minutes to get warm.
Italian Sausage Recipe Tips
- Pierce the sausages: Use a fork to pierce each sausage before placing them in the air fryer. This prevents the sausages from bursting.
- Don't overcrowd: Make sure to not overcrowd your air fryer when cooking Italian sausage. Place your sausages in an even layer with a bit of space between them.
- Use a thermometer: Check the internal temperature of your Italian sausages and make sure they reach 160℉, in the center of the sausage.
- Start with a clean air fryer: Sausages have a high fat content like bacon, and will dip during cooking. Make sure the drip tray inside your air fryer is completely clean.
