Ham in Air Fryer
If you have yet to try air frying ham, I recommend it the next time you're planning on making a ham dinner! Not only is it so easy to do, it's quick - ready in under an hour! - and completely delicious.
The sriracha honey ham glaze adds a sweet and spicy flavor to juicy-on-the-inside, crisp-on-the-outside ham, and will leave you wanting bite after bite. Air fryer ham makes a perfect meal for a special occasion - especially the holidays!
This easy holiday ham is a crowd-pleasing recipe everyone will ask you for. And, made in the air fryer, it could not be more simple.
Air Fryer Ham Ingredients
- Boneless, pre-cooked ham
- Honey
- Sriracha
- Butter, melted
- Garlic powder
- Fresh green onions, sliced
You will also need aluminum foil and an air fryer that is at least 6 quarts.
How to Air Fry Ham
- Combine honey, sriracha, melted butter, garlic powder, and fresh green onions in a bowl, and mix completely.
- Score ham by making shallow, even cuts across the top in one direction, then cutting again in the opposite direction. This allows the glaze to seep into the meat of the ham for even further developed flavor.
- Brush the ham with ⅓ of your glaze mixture.
- Wrap the ham entirely with foil, then place in the air fryer at 300°F for 20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes, unwrap the ham and brush with another ⅓ of your glaze mixture. Re-wrap, then cook another 20 minutes.
- Finally, unwrap the ham but do not remove the foil. Brush the remaining glaze on top of the ham and fold the foil into an edge around the ham. Cook at 360°F, uncovered, for 5 minutes. This will caramelize the outside of the ham.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy!
Air Fry Ham Recipe Tips
- Score the ham to allow the glaze to seep into the ham as it cooks.
- Cooking in intervals better develops the flavor of the ham, so make sure to stop halfway through at the first 20 minute mark to add more glaze.
- Use whatever ham glaze is your favorite - any ham glaze you love will work with this recipe for air fryer ham.
How Much Ham Per Person
As a general rule, an individual will eat about ⅓ pound of boneless ham as part of a meal.
Number of People | Size of Boneless Ham Needed |
---|---|
4 to 6 | 2 to 3 pounds |
6 to 8 | 3 to 4 pounds |
8 to 10 | 4 to 5 pounds |
10 to 12 | 5 to 6 pounds |
15 to 20 | 8 to 10 pounds |
Do I need to let my ham come to room temperature before cooking it?
I recommend allowing your ham to sit for 20 minutes at room temperature to ensure it cooks evenly throughout. Do not let it sit for more than 20 minutes at room temperature.
How long can I leave the cooked ham out on the table?
Cooked ham can be left at room temperature on the table for no more than 2 hours.
Air Fryer Ham FAQs
To prepare ham in an air fryer, first mix your glaze in a bowl and set it aside with a basting brush ready. Score the ham by making shallow cuts along the top in one direction, then again in the opposite direction. Lay the ham on a sheet of foil and glaze it, while leaving some glaze for later, before wrapping it in foil. Air fry for 20 minutes at 300°F, then uncover and brush with more glaze. Re-wrap and cook another 20 minutes. Finally, sear the ham by cooking it at 360°F for 5 minutes, uncovered.
A fully cooked, 5-pound boneless ham takes 45 minutes total to cook in the air fryer. Larger hams, or ham with a bone, will take longer to cook.
A 6 qt. air fryer fits a 3 to 5 pound boneless ham well. Smaller air fryers may require you to cook a smaller ham. Keep in mind, a 3-pound boneless ham feeds 4-6 people, while a 5-pound ham feeds up to 10.
Leftover ham can be frozen for up to 2 months in the freezer. If your ham was frozen previously, do not refreeze it. If it was not, you can freeze the ham by cutting it into slices, then adding it to freezer bags labeled with the date. This allows you to portion out the ham exactly as you may want it. Make sure the ham is fully cooled before placing it in the freezer.
