Pulled Pork Nacho Recipe Tips
- You can use flavored chips if you'd like! I've found that hint of lime chips can be delicious, or for extra zest, chips with jalapeno!
- This recipe uses BBQ pulled pork, but you can use any pulled pork recipe you like! I highly recommend smoked pulled pork, or grilled pork butt- recipes linked below!
- There's no wrong way to make nachos, so alter the toppings according to your taste. Just avoid adding the salsa early, as it can make the chips floppy.
- I like using Monterey Jack or Cheddar shredded cheese, but it would also be delicious with cojita or queso fresco!
What to Put on Nachos
- Salsa (In a bowl, so it doesn't get the nachos too wet!)
- Green onions
- Shredded lettuce
- Sliced olives
- Pico de gallo
- Beans
- Guacamole
- Roasted peppers
- Elote
There are so many great pulled pork nacho toppings to try out! Mix and match to your tastes, or set out bowls of all the favorites so everyone can choose exactly what they want. Everyone wins!
Pulled Pork Nachos Recipe FAQs
Pulled pork is a nice mild meat that goes well with almost any topping you can think of! I personally like adding crisp, fresh vegetables like corn, onions, tomato and pepper, then adding cheese, sour cream and avocado to add some creaminess.
Salsa should be served on the side with nachos, or added at the very last moment, heated beforehand separately. If salsa is poured directly on the nachos before they go in the oven the liquid will soak the chips and leave them soggy.
The most popular toppings for nachos are cheese, meat, jalapeno peppers, pico de gallo and sour cream, but everyone has their favorites. If you're setting up a nacho bar for a party, it's always a good idea to bring a wide variety of toppings.
Pulled pork is mild and pairs well with most melty cheeses, but for nachos, I suggest Monterey Jack, Cheddar cheese, or a Mexican cheese like queso fresco or cojita.
