Every step of making pulled pork sandwiches is a mouthwatering treat. From the incredible aroma of pulled pork in the slow cooker filling the house, to the crunchy homemade coleslaw and tender buns, every single part of these sandwiches is irresistible!
Plus, they're so easy to make. With simple two-step coleslaw and ultra-easy crock pot pulled pork, these sandwiches come together with barely any actual hands-on work and serve enough to feed a crowd. They're the perfect pork sandwich for parties, BBQs, and more!
My favorite thing about these sandwiches is how easy they are to adjust! You can customize the coleslaw to be exactly as creamy as you want, or use store bought. Make your own BBQ sauce with my favorite BBQ sauce recipe, or your favorite bottled sauce.

How to Make Pulled Pork Sandwiches
How to Make Pulled Pork
- In a bowl or the crock pot, mix together the BBQ sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and all spices. Stir to thoroughly combine.
- Add in the pork loin and turn it to coat.
- Cook on HIGH for 4 hours, turning the roast 2-3 times as it cooks to ensure even cooking. Slowly begin shredding it each time it's turned.
- After 4 hours, turn the crock pot to LOW and cook another 45 minutes, until the juices are absorbed and the pork shreds easily.
- Spoon about 4 Tabelspoons of pulled pork on to the bottom slice of each Brioche bun.
- Top with coleslaw to taste- I like about 2 Tablespoons.
- Sprinkle with extra BBQ sauce, add the top buns, and serve!
Slaw for Pulled Pork
- Add the coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper into a large bowl.
- Toss until fully combined.
- Refrigerate for 3-5 days or serve immediately on sandwiches, and enjoy!
Pulled Pork Sandwich Recipes Tips
- Pulled pork sandwiches can be as complex or simple as you'd like! Make the pulled pork yourself with homemade BBQ, or use store bought.
- You can use proteins other than pulled pork. I love making these sandwiches with my own BBQ sauce and leftover shredded chicken or beef when I don't have any pulled pork on hand!
- Try adding more toppings like sharp cheddar, teriyaki sauce, pickles, pickled red onion, or my secret favorite, pickled asparagus!
- Wrap the sandwiches in foil and reheat them in the oven for perfectly toasty and warm leftovers!
BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich Recipe FAQs
Each sandwich takes about 4 Tablespoons of pulled pork per sandwich, but this can depend on the size of the bun! For smaller slider-style buns, you may need to use less.
Pulled pork sandwiches pair amazingly with sharp cheddar and any kind of pickle! I love dill pickles, but red onion and asparagus are also incredible to add a nice tang to spicy, smoky BBQ. Coleslaw is also a match made in heaven and so easy to make!
For cheese on a pulled pork sandwich, try adding sharp cheddar or pepper jack. Strong, sharp cheeses pair well with the flavorful BBQ and melt wonderfully to create a lusciously creamy sandwich you'll be making again!
