Glazed Ham Tips
- Making a big dinner means a whole lot of sides, so plan ahead and pick a ham recipe accordingly! If you're planning on baking casseroles or vegetables, try a ham recipe that doesn't use the oven.
- Virtually all types of ham will work for any of these recipes, whether you have a spiral cut, boneless, bone-in, or even raw ham, with adjusted cooking times.
- Make sure to save the bone if you're using a bone-in ham! Store it in the freezer to use for incredible pork bone stock that will make any soup or gravy showstopping.
- Remember to always glaze ham liberally! The most common issue with ham is it drying out, and keeping it well glazed will make sure that's never a problem.
Glazed Ham Recipes FAQs
The great thing about ham is that no matter how you cook it, it will turn out delicious. A better question to ask is what appliances you'll need for sides, and plan your ham around that! I love using the air fryer or pressure cooker when I need the ham done quick, or the oven when I'm using the air fryer for sides.
The best Easter ham is the ham your family will personally love the most, but if you want to serve up something extra fancy, try Pineapple ham! With a tangy pineapple glaze and a decorative covering of pineapple rounds, this ham looks beautiful on the table and tastes even better.
Flavorful ham is all about the glaze. Use lots of glaze with bold flavors like maple, bourbon, pineapple and sriracha to add tons of flavor to your ham, and make sure to add more glaze as it cooks, as well as between each slice of meat!

Instructions
For Pineapple Ham Glaze:
- Chop the fresh pineapple finely, and add it to a small pot over medium heat with 1 cup of pineapple juice. Mix well.
- Add in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Stir to combine, and let it come to a light boil.
- Turn down the heat until simmering, and let cook for 10 minutes, until thickened.
- Add in 1 tablespoon of butter and mix until melted, then remove from the heat.
For Pineapple Ham:
- While the glaze is cooling, take a roasting pan and place 6-8 pineapple rings along the bottom, and preheat the oven to 325°F.
- Add a roasting rack on top of the pan, and place the spiral ham on the rack.
- Score the ham ¼ inch deep in a diamond pattern- this will soak up the glaze.
- Cover the entire ham generously with pineapple glaze, making sure to get between the slices.
- Using toothpicks to secure them, cover the ham entirely with pineapple rings.
- Pour the rest of the pineapple juice into the bottom of the pan with the pineapple rings, making sure not to pour it on the ham itself.
- Cover the ham with foil, and bake at 325°F for 15-18 minutes per pound.
- Remove from the oven, take off the foil, and remove the toothpicks- the pineapple rings should stick thanks to the glaze.
- Allow the ham to rest 15 minutes, and then add one more layer of glaze.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy!
