We were trying something different from our usual. And wanted it today and for sandwiches later. This fit the bill. Good flavor, without one ingredient overpowering the taste. We will make it again!

    Mississippi Roast

My family loves pot roasts of all kinds. I make them at least once a month, and usually more than that! Crock-Pot pot roast dinners are just so easy to put together without much work or cleanup.

They're perfect if you're running on a busy schedule but still want to put a special dinner on the table for your family. Slow cooker pot roasts have to be my favorite. There's nothing like an easy crockpot roast you can set in the morning and forget until it's time for dinner.

I have too many favorite roast beef recipes to put one above the rest, but if I had to choose, this slow cooker Mississippi Pot Roast recipe is a strong contender. You and your family will love it, I promise!

I’ve made this 4 times and every time we absolutely love it we serve with the side of mashed potatoes or French fries and fruit.

Why is Rump Roast Recipe called Mississippi Pot Roast?

This amazingly delicious rump roast recipe is called Mississippi pot roast because the home cook who developed the recipe lived in Mississippi. It's as simple as that!

What does Mississippi Pot Roast taste like?

Mississippi Pot Roast has a more tangy, zesty flavor than traditional rump roast. The addition of ranch dressing mix, au jus gravy mix, butter, and pepperoncini peppers gives it an exciting combination of flavors!

It is not like a traditional pot roast but instead has some zing to it!

It’s so good. 🤤 I’ve made it multiple times and the fam loves it!

    Mississippi Pot Roast Recipe FAQs

What does Mississippi pot roast taste like?

Mississippi Pot Roast has a more tangy, zesty flavor than traditional pot roast. The addition of ranch dressing mix, au jus gravy mix, butter, and pepperoncini peppers gives it a strong combination of flavors.

Can I use brown gravy mix instead of au jus?

A packet of brown gravy mix can be used instead of a packet of au jus mix in Mississippi pot roast. This will make a thicker gravy.

What do you eat with Mississippi roast?

Serve Mississippi roast with classic pot roast side dishes such as creamy mashed potatoes, green vegetables, or salad.

Which is better, chuck or rump roast?

Rump roast is slightly more tender than chuck roast; however, both chuck and rump roast can be used for making slow cooker pot roast.

Hi Debbie! You can use less peppers if you like. I would say try using about half instead of the full jar.

I always sear any roast. The extra step to me is essential. Deglaze the drippings with broth or a bit of water. Scrape pan and add to the crock. I have never made this with a sirloin tip roast but it was on sale for 4.49 at Publix. Chuck roast here ( Jax beach fl) is over 10.00 per pound at Publix. I can walk there so that's my store.. Beach has no Wal-Mart which is good and bad. McCormick makes a natural ranch packet which i found by the Hidden Valley. Also, I use beef Better than Bouillon instead of Au jus packet. I'm not a fan of packets. I doubt I will ever make the carrot and potatoes type again. Ill make on side. The leftovers are delicious and versatile. I made quesadillas in my cast iron pan. Recommend. If you have never tried Mississippi pot roast... Try it! My tween grandsons loved it!

Hi Terri! This recipe will always be well done when it's ready - it should shred easily with a fork when it's ready to serve.
