Steak Fettucini Alfredo
Before I learned the secret of making it myself, the creamiest Alfredo I'd ever tried was at a tiny restaurant in my hometown. It was incredible- a step above any Alfredo sauce I'd ever tried! Rich, buttery, and so, so smooth. I had to know how they did it!
When I asked, I could not believe the answer. The secret to the creamiest Alfredo sauce I've ever made is white American cheese! I've never looked at Alfredo the same way since. Now I can't imagine making any steak Alfredo recipes without it! All it takes is two slices for the best steak and pasta ever.
Of course, don't skimp out on the steak! I've included a list of all my favorite steak recipes as well. Just make sure to make extra: it's hard not to eat up every last bite of steak this good!
Steak Alfredo Recipe Ingredients
- Heavy cream
- Butter
- Garlic
- Parmesan
- White American cheese
- Fettuccine
- Black pepper
- Steak
Alfredo Steak Instructions
- Set a skillet over medium heat and add the butter to melt. In a separate pot, cook a package of fettuccine pasta to package instructions, and set aside.
- When the butter is fully melted, add in minced garlic, and cook for 2-3 minutes while stirring, or until fragrant.
- Slowly add in the heavy cream, stirring constantly so the cream doesn't curdle. Add it slowly and over time, not in one single pour.
- Sprinkle in the Parmesan slowly, while stirring constantly to avoid clumps.
- Add in the slices of American cheese and stir until fully incorporated.
- Sprinkle with pepper and stir to combine.
- Add in the pasta and sliced steak, mixing and leaving over the heat until everything is heated through.
- Top with extra Parmesan, Alfredo sauce and parsley as desired, and serve!
Steak Pasta Tips
- The most important part about making Alfredo is avoiding curdling the cream! Make sure to add it very slowly and stir constantly, or else the cream can easily curdle and make the sauce chunky.
- That said, if the cream curdles, it'll still taste good! Whisk it very well to break up the curds and you will still be able to safely eat it- the texture will just be less smooth.
- Cutting the steak into thin slices before adding it will ensure that it heats through quickly without overcooking and getting tough.
- Fettuccine noodles are classic for this steak and pasta recipe, but any cooked pasta noodle will be delicious! I'm also a big fan of radiatori pasta with Alfredo sauce.

Remember: Don't skip out on the American cheese! It won't impact the classic Alfredo flavor, but will add an unbelievable creaminess to the sauce like no Alfredo you've ever tasted!
Steak Alfredo FAQs
Truly, just about every meat will taste delicious with fettuccine Alfredo! I've always liked it most with steak or as a Sauce for Prime Rib, as the richer flavor of beef truly shines through in creamy sauces. However, it's also wonderful with chicken or shrimp!
Alfredo sauce is a fairly simple sauce that relies on only a few ingredients to get its classic flavor, so stepping it up means getting each detail right- plus my secret ingredient! It's important to mix in the cream slowly to ensure it doesn't curdle, as this is critical to the texture. Then, add 2-3 slices of White American cheese. No, seriously- you won't believe how luscious and creamy it turns out!
Steak is a heavy meat with a rich flavor, and it pairs beautifully with creamy sauces that boost the natural richness without overpowering it! That's why I love steak Alfredo recipes, as the Alfredo sauce is the perfect level of creamy and savory, but not overpowering.
