What is a good cut of meat for roast beef?
If you're cooking a pot roast, budget-friendly beef cuts that become more tender after slow cooking for hours are your best choice. Try cuts like:
- Beef chuck roast
- Rump roast or bottom round
- Beef brisket
- Shoulder steak
For our rib roast recipes, prime rib is sold in different grades based on the quality of the beef. For the highest quality, look for USDA Prime; USDA Choice is second best, and Select is more budget-friendly.
What is the most tender beef roast?
The most tender cut of beef for roasting is thought to be the Chateaubriand beef tenderloin roast. It is an extremely tender part of the loin area of the cow.
For pot roast, our first choice is beef chuck roast. It cooks beautifully when braised, to fall-apart tender perfection.
