Made using tender cuts of juicy flank steak, fresh broccoli, and the perfect blend of tasty seasonings, it's more than just easy: it's delicious! Serve it as is, over rice bowls, with cauliflower rice, or with noodles (if you're not worried about low carb!).

    Beef and Broccoli Recipe Tips

    • Choose the right beef: Choose tender cuts of beef like flank steak or chuck roast for the best results.
    • Slicing the beef: When you're slicing the beef, make sure to cut against the grain.
    • Don't overcrowd the pot: Brown the beef in batches if needed to avoid any overcrowding in the pot.
    • Garnish the dish: Sprinkle beef and broccoli with sesame seeds, crushed chili pepper, or paprika for a finishing touch.

    Beef and Broccoli Recipes FAQ

Can I use soy sauce on a keto meal plan?

Most soy sauces are low in carbs and can be incorporated safely into a keto meal plan. Always check the label to confirm! In the case of this recipe, we use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce to keep it gluten-free and lower sodium.

    What are coconut aminos?

Coconut aminos come from the sap of coconut blossoms. They are a gluten-free, low-sodium soy sauce substitute, containing almost 70% less sodium than regular soy sauce.

Where can I buy coconut aminos?

You can find coconut aminos in your local grocery store, typically in the same aisle as the spices and seasonings. Or they are often located in the international aisle next to the soy sauce, or in the section dedicated to health or dietary foods.

    What is arrowroot powder?

Arrowroot powder is a flavorless powder used as a thickener for sauces, soups, and more. Arrowroot powder is available at most major grocery stores. A common substitute for arrowroot powder is tapioca or cornstarch. However, arrowroot powder is not necessary for making this keto broccoli recipe. It only serves as a thickener for the beef and broccoli sauce and provides no extra flavor.

What is the best cut of beef for beef and broccolli?

The best cut of beef for this keto beef and broccoli dinner is flank steak, sirloin steak, or chuck roast. You'll want a tender cut of meat that's bursting with flavor and easy to slice thinly.

Hi Kathy! The carbs are predominantly from the broccoli.

Only have frozen broccoli florets in the house. Do you think those would work ok? Thank You.

Hi Cheryl! That would work just fine! The broccoli in this recipe is already cooked, so you'll have to cook it, but frozen broccoli cooks surprisingly quickly. You can even steam broccoli in the Instant Pot before cooking the beef, if you'd like, by setting the Instant Pot to High pressure at "0" minutes and steaming the broccoli in a steaming basket or trivet with half a cup of water. Naturally release the steam, then it's good to go. This will take about 10 minutes (sometimes a little less) depending on how long the Instant Pot takes to come to pressure. Otherwise, just use your favorite method of cooking broccoli before adding it to the dish.
