Butter Rub for Prime Rib
It's no secret that a prime rib is no everyday meal- it's a huge, often pricey cut of only the best meat, and cooking one up for supper is the mark of a special occasion to remember!
So why not always make it as juicy and flavorful as possible? That's where this butter rub for prime rib recipe comes in!
With easy pantry ingredients and a prep time of only minutes, the next prime rib you set out on the table will be worth celebrating all on its own.
Garlic Butter Prime Rib Ingredients
- Butter
- Garlic powder
- Rosemary (fresh or dried)
- Thyme (fresh or dried)
- Black pepper
How to Make Butter-Rubbed Prime Rib
- Set out the butter to soften. If you're using fresh rosemary, chop it finely.
- When soft and easy to mix, add in the garlic powder, rosemary, thyme, and black pepper.
- Mix well until completely mixed in and totally smooth.
- Spread liberally on the roast!
Best Rub for Prime Rib Tips
- I prefer to use fresh herbs for my roasts, but dried work just as well in a pinch! Just be careful with amounts, as dried herbs can be more powerfully flavored.
- Salted butter tends to make for a more flavorful rub, but you can add a pinch of salt to unsalted butter too.
- Trust me, you'll want to make a little extra of this delicious butter rub! Set it aside (so it doesn't get cross-contaminated) and spread it on dinner rolls, top mashed potatoes with it, or put a dollop on top of your favorite roasted vegetables. It's delicious in every way!
- No prime rib? No problem! Use this recipe on pork roast or beef tenderloins or even your favorite cut of chicken and I promise it'll turn out stunning!
