Carne asada is easily one of my favorite meals to serve my family. For taco night, nothing is better than freshly grilled Carne Asada Tacos! The secret that makes them so flavorful is my carne asada marinade.
This is truly the best seasoning for carne asada. Complete with flavors inspired by traditional Mexican cuisine, this mix has everything you need to make a simple but delicious meal.

Carne Asada Seasonings FAQ
Carne asada seasoning uses a simple blend of spices inspired by Mexican cuisine, as well as citrus juice for a marinade. Marinating carne asada beef allows it to become tender as well as seasoned, so including citrus juice is a great way to accompany the spice rub.
Add all ingredients for your carne asada marinade to a bag or container large enough to hold your cut of steak. Rest the steak in the marinade and toss to coat it completely. Allow it to marinate for at least 2 hours in the seasoning to soak up all the flavor.
Carne asada seasoning is for more than just steak; you can also use this easy seasoning recipe for ground beef. I love making crockpot taco meat with my seasoning for carne asada. It is an excellent combination! Try serving it as tacos or over rice.

- minced garlic
- cumin

I keep it simple with my carne asada seasoning recipe by using just six ingredients. Although I use fresh minced garlic and recommend it, you can also use garlic paste or dried garlic. If using granulated garlic powder, use ¾ teaspoon instead of 3 cloves.
How to Make Carne Asada Seasoning
- Place orange juice, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper in a plastic bag or container large enough to contain the meat you plan to marinate.
- Add meat to the container and toss to coat. If marinating skirt, flank, or sirloin steak, marinate for at least 2 hours, but less than 8.
- Alternatively, carne asada seasoning can be added to 1 lb. of ground beef! Mix through while cooking.
Seasoning Carne Asada Tips
- If you'd like a bit of spice, add ½ teaspoon chili powder (or to your liking). Mexican chili powder is a great addition.
- Freshly squeezed juice is the best for this dish. However, you can also use store-bought juice.

- 2 Tablespoons lime juice from 1 whole fresh lime
- ¼ cup orange juice
- 3 cloves garlic minced large cloves; use 3 if they're small; or ¾ teaspoon granulated garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
